England Track

A thrilling drive awaits

A drive through the England Track involves tackling unforgiving terrain with plenty of steep inclines and declines that’ll delight hardcore 4WDers. You’ll spend much of the drive maneuvering slippery ground and tricky turns. As such, this track will take the best part of a day to complete safely. There’s also a network of trails and side tracks you have the added option of exploring if you so dare.

And once you complete this epic route, you’ll be rewarded with gorgeous mountain views of Coffs Harbour and the surrounding countryside below. Another great thing about the England Track is that you don’t even have to go far out of your way to reach it. It’s just a five-minute drive from Coffs Harbour along Englands Road.

Preparing for your 4x4 adventure

Off-road driving is inherently risky, which is, of course, part of the fun. But it’s also important to take basic safety precautions and not be too reckless on the road. In particular, car insurance is an important basic protection. Someone is seriously injured on Australian roads every 22 minutes, and the average damage cost per vehicle comes in at around $3,001. The right level of car insurance can protect you financially by covering the cost of repairs to your vehicle if you do get into an accident. In Australia, compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance — which covers personal injury claims that result from an accident caused by you — is also a legal requirement. So you must at least have CTP insurance as a bare minimum.

4x4 recovery kit

You’ll also need to put together a good recovery kit (and know how to use it properly) to stay safe and prepared on the England Track. In particular, your kit should include a tyre pressure gauge, so you can check your pressure throughout the drive and avoid getting stuck off-road. A 4x4 compressor also comes in handy when you need to pump your tires. And when you do need to get your vehicle unstuck, kinetic rope and recovery points will get the job done quickly and safely. Ideally, you should have two recovery points on the front of your car, and another two on the rear.

There’s no doubt the England Track is one of the most dangerous in New South Wales. So, if you’re an experienced 4WD’er and up for a challenge, why not see if you’ve got what it takes to smash this exhilarating route.
