Travelling through the unfinished Old Provincial Highway 14
Located in Hualien County, on the east coast of Taiwan, the Old Provincial Highway 14 is an abandoned road with stunning views.
The road, nicknamed as Qilai road or little Taroko, is locally known as the "Unfinished Cross Highway". It’s totally paved and very narrow running along Mugu river. The road is closed to all kind of vehicles (even pedestrians) and only available to residents and workers of a power plant. Access is controlled by the police.
The road was planned to cross the island from west to east but on 2009 the project was formally abandoned. It’s a wonderful road with impressive tunnels and galleries located located within the Taroko National Park.
