The road to the lake, also known as Mahudand, is mostly unpaved, tricky, and bumpy. It’s called Saifullah Lake Road and requires 4x4 vehicles only due to the rugged terrain.

Starting from Kalam in the Swat District, the road to the lake is 31.6 km (19.63 miles) long.

Is the Road to Mahodand Lake Open in Winter?

Set high at the foothills of the Hindu Kush mountains, the lake is only accessible during the summer season. In winter, access is extremely limited due to heavy snow and a high risk of avalanches. Snow can even be found in summer at these altitudes.
