A road trip to Bari La is truly epic
Bari La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.721m (15,488ft) above the sea level located in the Northern Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. It's one of the highest roads of the country.
Nestled in the Deosai National Park, the road to the summit is totally unpaved, narrow and very scary. It’s known as Bari La Road. Not recommended if you don't know how to reverse. 4x4 vehicles with high clearance only. Bike recommended. Starting from Saigar, the road to the summit is 38km (23 miles) long. This pass usually opens for 2-3 months from July-Sept. This track connects Deosai to the area of Gultri Shengo Shigar. There are a variety of birds, plants, animals and flowers along the way.
