Nyi La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3,932m (12,900ft) above sea level, located in the remote and inaccessible region of Upper Mustang in Nepal.
Where is Nyi La?
The pass is situated in the valley of the Kali Gandaki River, in the north-central part of Nepal, near the Chinese border.
Is Nyi La Unpaved?
The road to the summit is quite challenging. Known as the Kaligandaki Road Corridor, it was constructed by the Nepal Army. The road is gravel and a 4WD vehicle is highly recommended. The route climbs several high mountain passes and is often impassable during winter.
How Long is the Road to Nyi La?
The pass is 16.5 km (10.25 miles) long, running north-south from Ghami to Syanboche.
