A road trip on the Lapche La pass is truly epic
Lapche La is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.933m (16,184ft) above the sea level, located on the border of China and Nepal.
Located on the Nalakankar Himal, a small subrange of the Himalayan range, the road to the summit is unpaved. It is called Limi Lhapche Road. 4x4 vehicle required. On this road you're firmly on altitudes over 4.500m. For an unacclimatized person this can be fatal. The entire range is little visited, partly due to its isolated location. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor. High winds blow here all year long. The pass is located on the border of southern Tibet and the northwest corner of Nepal, and links Limi (Nepal) and Lake Manasarovar (China).
