Dare to drive the dangerous Bursatyn Davaaa
Bursatyn Davaaa is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.644m (8,674ft) above the sea level, located in Bayan-Ölgii Province in western Mongolia.
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called Asian Highway 4 (AH4). 4x4 vehicle required. It’s a long and challenging road to the summit through rugged landscapes. The road is full of steep and sudden turns and countless bumps of varying sizes and impacts. The drive offers dramatic views.Mostly a good track, only some sections are rather rough. Every now and then good views of the big snow covered mountains left and right.
The pass is 139 km (86 miles) long running west-east from Tolbo (Bayan-Ölgii Province) to Khovd or Hovd (the capital of the Khovd Province). Always check the weather forecast before you start your journey: adverse conditions are common.
