A wild 4x4 road to Sichal Peak in the Alborz Mountains
Sichal is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3,701m (12,142ft) above sea level, located in Iran. It’s one of the highest roads in the country.

Where is Sichal Peak?
The peak is located on the boundary between Alborz and Tehran provinces, in the northern part of the country. The summit provides stunning views of Iran’s highest mountain, Damavand (5,610m).
What’s at the summit of Sichal Peak?
Set high on the southern slopes of the Central Alborz Mountains, at the summit there was a chairlift for the Dizin ski resort. Shemshak piste was closed in 2020 and 2021 as the lift system was old and had not been properly maintained. As a result, the Iran Ski Federation did not approve of keeping it open. Dizin ski resort was built around 1960, during the reign of Pahlavi (Mohammad Reza Shah), before Iran’s Islamic revolution. The mountain is the highest point of the whole resort.
How long is the road to Sichal Peak?
The road through the summit is totally unpaved. It was a service road for the chairlift. It’s extremely steep. Starting from Dizin Ski Resort, the road is 10.78km (6.7 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1,015m (3,333ft) and the average gradient is 14.34%.
