Harong La
Harong La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.273m (14,019ft) above the sea level, located in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir state.
Located in the Himalayas, this infamous gravel road to the summit is bumped. It is subject to winter snowfalls with such a high summit altitude, and it can be closed anytime when the access is not cleared of snow. Watch out for sudden loose-gravel breaks. Proper preparation is essential to having a safe, enjoyable trip on this road. The high elevation with its risk of altitude sickness, weather concerns, steep road grade and overall inaccessibility make the travel dangerous and difficult.
