Is Banihal Pass Paved?
Tucked away in the northern part of the country, the road to the summit is mostly paved. It's called the Srinagar-Kanyakumari Highway. It is one of the most popular mountain passes in the state.
How Long is Banihal Pass?
The pass is 39 km (24 miles) long, running from Shaitani Nallah to Mundah. Due to the challenging conditions of the road, with numerous curves and hairpin turns, the most difficult part has been bypassed by a tunnel.
Is Banihal Pass Open in Winter?
Set high in the Pir Panjal Range, the pass is accessible only during the summer season and remains closed in winter due to heavy snowfall.
