Set high in the Western Ghats, in the western part of the country, this drive is famous for its stunning surroundings, including scenic waterfalls, lakes, and dense forests. You can often expect bad weather and fog, and there are plenty of monkeys around, so be cautious.

The road to the summit is fully paved, featuring many twists, hairpin turns, and steep sections. It's called NH 965DD (Varandha Ghat Road).
How Long is the Road Through Varandha Ghat?
The pass stretches 73.3 km (45.54 miles), running west to east from Mahad (in Raigad district) to Bhor (in Pune district). For a safer journey, it's recommended to drive through the ghat during the day, especially in remote sections like Gaganbawda, Tamhini, and Radhanagari, where roadside assistance may be hard to find.
