Located in the Himalaya mountain range, the peak hosts communication facilities. The road to the summit is unpaved via 16 sharp hairpin turns. It is totally impassable in winters. 4x4 vehicle with high clearance required. Lhari means "holy mountain" in Tibetan. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor. Be careful: this road is not for the sissies. The area is administered as part of the Nyoma tehsil in the Leh district of Ladakh by India, and claimed by China as part of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
