The rugged road to Dza La: a high mountain drive in Qinghai province
Dza La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.690m (15,384ft) above the sea level, located in Yushu City County, Yushu Prefecture of Qinghai Province, in China

The road leading to the summit, alternatively known as Chumarleb or Qumalai, is entirely unpaved. Spanning a distance of 11.7 km (7.27 miles), the drive presents a genuine challenge. Travelers must navigate its narrow stretches, steep inclines, and intimidating drop-offs.
Due to its remote location and the hazardous conditions of the ascent, an alternative route was created. A tunnel, forming part of the paved G215 road connecting Yushu to Longbaozhen, now bypasses the treacherous summit route.
