Set high in western Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, the road through the pass is fully paved yet quite challenging, with countless curves—many of them hairpin turns—and steep sections.

The pass is 71km (44 miles) long, running north-south from Baqiongxicun to Buzhong.
