Baima Snow Mountain Pass

Is the road through Baima Shan Yakou paved?

Set high in the southern part of the country, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called former G214. The drive is extremely challenging, with countless turns, steep sections, and narrow parts. Due to its difficult geography, the road was bypassed by the Balmaxueshan tunnels on the new G214 Road.

How long is Baima Shan Yakou?

The pass is 29.2 km (18.14 miles) long, starting and ending on the new G214 Road. When the snow falls - which it does in the winter - things get tough and slippery. Always check the weather forecast before you start your journey: adverse conditions are common.
