Wanzhang Cliff Highway is for experienced drivers only
Located in Hefeng County, in the southwestern part of Hubei province, People's Republic of China, Wanzhang Cliff Highway is the name of a very dangerous drive. Along the way you’ll have to deal with some dangerous drop offs. One mistake can have serious consequences.
The road is totally paved. It’s 3km (1.86 miles) long running on a steep cliff and meandering through green peaks. This section was built in the late 1970s and construction conditions were extremely difficult. It was excavated by 800 workers on shoulders and backs. 13 people perished during the construction.
The wall-hanging road dug along the mountain features extremely high drop offs. At the bottom sits the beautiful Loushui River.
