Norgo La: The Ultimate Road Trip Guide
Norgo La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 5.256m (17,244ft) above the sea level, located in Coqên County in the southeast of Ngari Prefecture in the west of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
The road to the summit, also known as Nor Gwa La, was totally paved in late 2015. It’s called 206 Provincial Road (S206). The pass road is 110 km (68.35miles) long, running south-north from Dawaxung to Dongco. The drive offers stunning views of Dawa Co and Tong Tso lakes and Shahkang Shan mountain. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor. The road to the summit is very steep, hitting a 17% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. Because of the altitude, temperatures here are low, so be careful.
