Chenjiayuan Hanging Highway is a dangerous road cut from a cliff
Chenjiayuan Hanging Highway is the name of a challenging mountain road located in Lingchuan County in Shanxi Province, in China. It’s one of the famous Chinese tunnel roads.
Tucked away in the Taihang Mountains, the Chenjiayuan Tunnel Road is excavated on the cliff above the Chenjiayuan Reservoir. The road is challenging and scary. It was constructed from 1990 to 1993 for coal transportation.
This old road was replaced by the modern S311 road. It’s no longer used for car traffic. The windows carved along the road offer wonderful views of the Chenjiayuan reservoir. The cliffs and the clear lake reflect each other and are beautiful and magnificent.
