Siyaba La, pure adventure
Siyaba La is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.847m (15,902ft) above the sea level, located on the border of China and Nepal.
The pass, also known as Sharba La and Sharpa La, links Mustang District in the Dhawalagiri Zone of northern Nepal and the prefecture-level city of Xigazê in the western Tibet Autonomous Region of China. The road to the summit is unpaved. It’s a Chinese military road. 4x4 vehicle with high clearance required.
The summit is home to a Chinese military post. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. Facilities like electricity, medical aid, hot running water, western toilets etc. are rare to find. The road is closed to civilians. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor.
