Lalung La is an awe-inspiring road through extremely remote areas
Lalung La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 5.322m (17,460ft) above the sea level, located in Gar County, in the Ngari Prefecture of the western Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
The road to the summit, also known as Laochi La, is unpaved. It’s called 701 Country Road. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. The road is impassable from September to June. 4x4 required. Wet conditions may make for tough driving along the muddy road. Very remote, no traffic. It's a windy place and it's one of those places where you can feel hard winds coming from two directions at the same time. Starting from the paved China National Highway 219 (G219), the ascent is 16.8km long.
