A road trip to Marim La is truly epic
Marim La is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 5.494m (18,024ft) above sea level, located on the border of China and Nepal.
Located in the Himalayas, the pass links the Dolpa District in the Karnali Zone of north-western Nepal and Zhongba County of Xigazê Prefecture in China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The road to the summit is unpaved and very challenging. It is totally impassable in winters. 4x4 vehicle with high clearance required. It gets often obstructed by landslides and flooding. Be careful: this road is not for the sissies. One mistake can have consequences. The road is steep, with a 14% of maximum gradient.
