A Challenging Unpaved Road to Yaghurda Pass

Kōtal-e Yāghardā is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3,525 m (11,564 ft) above sea level, located in the Badakhshan Province of Afghanistan. It's best to avoid the drive if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong suit.

Is the Road to Yaghurda Pass Unpaved?

The road to the summit is completely unpaved, featuring large rocks and loose gravel. A 4x4 vehicle with high clearance is required. The road is very narrow in parts, with dangerous drop-offs and steep sections.

How Long is Yaghurda Pass?

Located in the northeastern part of the country, near the Tajikistan border, the road through the summit is 67 km (41.63 miles) long, running west-east from Baharak to Barshor.

Can I Travel to Yaghurda Pass?

Travel to Afghanistan is strongly discouraged due to the current security situation, which includes the threat of terrorist attacks, ongoing armed conflicts, risks of kidnapping, arbitrary arrests and detentions, and a high crime rate. The security environment is unstable and poses significant dangers. If you are currently in Afghanistan, seek shelter in a secure location and proceed with caution if you need to relocate for safety.
