How Challenging is Ghakhai Pass?
The road through the pass is very challenging. It’s mostly unpaved, full of curves, with narrow parts, steep sections, dangerous drop-offs, and 25 hairpin turns. It’s not an easy drive, and high-clearance vehicles are required.
Can I Drive to Ghakhai Pass?
Traveling to areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border is extremely risky. The region faces ongoing security issues, including the presence of militant groups, military operations, and frequent violence. Kidnappings and terrorism are common threats, especially in remote areas. Many parts of the region are restricted, and even with permits, travel is strongly discouraged by most governments. Due to the high risk, it's best to avoid travel to this area.
