The road through the pass is the iconic R704. It’s 77.05 kilometers (48 miles) long, running south to north from Boumalne Dadès to Agoudal. The drive begins with a spectacular journey through the infamous Gorges du Dadès.

Is the Road Through Tizi n’Bou Oudi Paved?

The road is mostly paved at the beginning, starting from Boumalne Dadès. Beyond this point, a 4x4 vehicle is absolutely required, as the terrain becomes treacherous. It’s a dirt road filled with sweeping curves, slippery sections, and hard gravel, demanding pure concentration. The route is extremely challenging, with steep drop-offs unprotected by guardrails.

Is the Road Through Tizi n’Bou Oudi Open in Winter?

Set high in the Atlas Mountains, access to the pass is typically open year-round, with occasional closures in winter due to dangerous weather conditions.
