Tucked away in the hilly south-western part of the country, the Black River Gorges National Park Road is fully paved. It is 20.2 km (12.55 miles) long running from Chamarel to Chamouny.

Located within the Black River Gorges National Park (the largest protected forest of Mauritius), the drive offers breathtaking views of the gorges, surrounded by lush forests. Along the road you will see many species of plants and animals. The road leads to the scenic Black River Gorges Viewpoint, the most famous landmark of the park, with an observation deck, souvenirs and food. On a clear day, the views from here across the gorge and down towards the west coast rank among the best on the island.
