Driving across Russia was never on my list of "Things To Do." Now, after 8,000 kilometers and 15 days by car, it's on my list of "Things Never To Do Again."

A132 is a spectacular and lonely road located in in Kareliya (Russia), between the towns of Medvezh’egorsk and Suoyarvi, with a total length of 194 km.


The Baikal Highway is a federal highway in Russia, and includes the M51, M53 i M55 roads. The length of the route is 4,501 km (2,797 mi) and crosses some parts of Kazakhstan.

As a pedestrian, exercise great care near traffic, as vehicles frequently fail to yield to pedestrians. In some areas of Russia, roads are practically nonexistent. When driving, adhere to all local driving regulations; these are strictly enforced and violators are subject to severe legal penalties. Russia practices a zero-tolerance policy with regard to alcohol consumption prior to driving. The maximum punishment is a two-year suspension of a driver’s license. An intoxicated driver may also be detained until he or she is deemed to be sober.

The Russian Federal Highway (M56 Kolyma Highway) connects Magadan and Yakutsk – actually, Nizhny Bestyakh on the eastern bank of Lena River at Yakutsk, where the coldest temperature ever recorded outside Antarctica was recorded.

 

Spectacular mountain road with a total length of 71,1 km, between Langepas and Pokachi, two cities in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia.

Lefortovo tunnel is a road tunnel in the Lefortovo District in Moscow, Russia, nicknamed the "Tunnel of Death" by locals, and opened in 2003. It is a part of the Third Ring Road of the city.

 

The Lena River has an ice road on its surface for hundreds of kilometres during the winter. To cross the river, locals are forced to use ferryboats from June till October and ice roads in winter, officially from the midst of December till early April.

 

M51 is a long federal highway in Siberia, Russia, part of the Baikal Highway, with a total length of 1496 km. This route starts in Tyumen and Chelyabinsk  and ends in Novosibirsk. This route crosses through Kazakhstan.

M53 is a long federal highway in Siberia, Russia, part of the Baikal Highway, with a total length of 1836 km. This route starts in Novosibirsk and Tomsk  and ends in Irkutsk.

M55 is a federal highway in Siberia, Russia, part of the Baikal Highway  with a total length of 1,099 km. This route starts in Irkutsk and ends in Chita.


Ice road on the Lake Baikal, between the mainland and Khuzir, the main village of Olkhon island, located in the south of the Russian region of Siberia, between Irkutsk Oblast to the northwest and the Buryat Republic to the southeast.

 

P487 is a spectacular road in Sakhalin, a large Russian island in the North Pacific, with a total length of 543km.



One of the most dangerous intersections in the world, is situated in Saint Petersburg (Russia).

 

The Road of Life was the transport route across the frozen Lake Ladoga, which provided the only access to the besieged city of Leningrad in the winter months during the Great Patriotic War. The road forms part of the World Heritage Site Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments.



Taganskaya square is one of the biggest and most busy traffic squares in Moscow. Many people make their way past this place every day, some stay a while, some only seconds.
