High mountain road located in the eastern Rila mountains (Bulgaria) reaching an elevation of 2058m above the sea level, on the Belmeken Dam.
The road, part of the 2010 WRC Rally of Bulgaria, has a total length of 28km, and the expected time to reach the summit is around 28 minutes. The surface is asphalted but it’s very narrow.
The road starts in Sestrimo Village, a small town in Pazardzik province, and it’s usually open throughout the summer to vehicles, but during winter months, it can be closed when the access is not cleared of snow. In winter, avalanches and heavy snowfalls can sometimes block the road.
The Belmeken dam is the highest dam lake on the Balkan peninsula, with a max. length of 3.98 km and a max. width of 1.2 km.
